Every year, parents scramble during the admission window because a single missing document can delay the process. Whether you are applying to a government, aided, or private PU college in Karnataka, the document requirements are largely the same. This checklist covers everything you need for a smooth I PUC admission in the 2026-27 academic year.

Essential Documents — The Core Checklist

These documents are required by every PU college in Karnataka without exception:

  1. SSLC Marks Card (Original + 2 Photocopies)
The original marks card issued by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) or equivalent board. This is the single most important document.
  2. Transfer Certificate (TC) from Previous School
Issued by your daughter's SSLC school upon completion. Ensure the TC has the school seal and principal's signature. Some colleges accept a provisional TC initially.
  3. Study Certificate / Bonafide Certificate
Confirms that the student studied at the issuing school. Required for verification of academic history.
  4. Aadhar Card (Student)
A photocopy of the student's Aadhar card. The Aadhar number is linked to the PU Board registration.
  5. Passport-Size Photographs (6 to 8 copies)
Recent photographs with a white background. Some colleges also require a stamp-size photo for the ID card.
  6. Parent/Guardian Aadhar Card (Photocopy)
A copy of the father's or mother's Aadhar, required for guardianship verification.

Additional Documents for Specific Categories

Depending on your category and background, you may need one or more of the following:

For SC/ST/OBC Students

  • Caste Certificate — Issued by the Tahsildar or competent authority. Required for fee concession and government scholarship applications.
  • Income Certificate — Issued by the Tahsildar. Needed for scholarship eligibility and fee waivers.

For Students from Other States

  • Migration Certificate — Required if the student completed SSLC or equivalent from a board outside Karnataka (CBSE, ICSE, or another state board).
  • Eligibility Certificate — Issued by the Karnataka PU Board after verifying the other-state board's equivalence. Your college will guide you through this process.

For Scholarship Applicants

  • Bank Passbook (Student's Name) — A photocopy of the first page showing account number and IFSC. Government scholarships are credited directly to the student's account.
  • Ration Card (Photocopy) — Used as supporting proof for income-based scholarships.

Documents You Should Keep Ready But May Not Need Immediately

  • Birth Certificate — Not always asked for at the PU level if the date of birth is clearly recorded in the SSLC marks card, but useful to have on hand.
  • Medical Fitness Certificate — Some colleges request this for sports admissions or hostel applications.
  • Character Certificate — Occasionally requested; your school TC usually covers this.

The Admission Process at mLAC

At Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni PU College for Women (mLAC) in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, the admission process is designed to be straightforward. Here is what to expect:

  1. Submit an online application through the mLAC admissions portal. You can also visit the campus and collect a physical form from the office.
  2. Visit the campus with original documents for verification. The admissions team will review your SSLC marks card, TC, Aadhar, and photographs.
  3. Select your stream and combination — Science (PCMB or PCMC), Commerce (SEBA, CEBA, CSBA, or PEBA), or Arts (HEPS or PEPS). The counsellors can help if you are undecided.
  4. Pay the admission fee and collect your receipt. The fee structure is published on the website for transparency.
  5. Attend the orientation before classes begin. You will receive your timetable, ID card, and details about integrated coaching programs.

Tips to Avoid Last-Minute Stress

  • Collect your TC and marks card from your school as soon as results are declared. Do not wait for the school to call you.
  • Get multiple photocopies of every document — at least 3 sets. You will need copies for the college, the PU Board registration, and scholarship applications.
  • If you belong to SC/ST/OBC category, apply for your caste and income certificates well in advance. Tahsildar offices can take two to four weeks.
  • Keep a folder with all originals and a separate folder with photocopies. Carry both when you visit the college.
